Integral to the Foundation’s success are our diverse and talented staff, whose expertise is invaluable to both our understanding of education and also our credibility and high-standing in the sector.
Work ranges from pure research into curricula areas or education and social issues, to evaluating the value-for-money, impact or effectiveness of organisations and initiatives supporting education. The team is made up of researchers, statisticians, psychometricians, economists, trials and assessment experts, policy analysts and information specialists who between them have extensive experience and expertise combined with deep subject knowledge. They work together, collaborating to bring the appropriate set of skills to each project. They work across all areas of qualitative and quantitative research, applying the most appropriate research techniques.
Working within this department, you may have a teaching or academic research background with a degree likely within Social Science, Education, Psychology, Languages, Mathematics, Economic, International Development – although this is a requirement.
The RPO Department is responsible for the logistical, operational, administrative and data collection aspects of our extensive range of surveys, test and assessment trialling and international projects. This team’s work is intrinsic to the operational success of our own research, evaluation and assessment programmes and also assists other organisations that need support for the logistical or large-scale delivery aspects of their projects.
The team nurtures the strong relationship we have with schools, managing day-to-day activity with them and all data requirements in relation to our range of projects. It also manages a pool of specialist fieldworkers and test administrators, all of whom are qualified teachers and work directly with schools and colleges. The team includes project managers and logistics and data specialists, all of whom are skilled in mobilising and managing large-scale projects and secure data collection, storage and analysis activities.
Working within this department you’ll have strong project management skills and operational agility. As a logical thinker you’ll enjoy planning, working with data, process mapping and problem solving.
The Sales, Marketing and Impact (SMI) department leads on all aspects of sales, communication, marketing and impact of NFER’s activities to a wide range of audiences, using different media and communications channels. The team works with colleagues across NFER to ensure our research and assessment work reaches the maximum number of stakeholders and practitioners. It also advises on how to achieve the greatest impact through our expertise and research insights. The SMI team provides NFER with the leadership, expertise and services that enhance the reach and influence of the organisation. As well as providing centralised marketing communications, it is responsible for driving the achievement of impact from NFER’s work and raising the profile of the Foundation in a crowded sector.
Working within this department you are likely to have a background in marketing and/or communications, with a keen interest in government policy.
