We are fortunate to have some of the UK’s leading assessment experts and psychometricians that collaborate to deliver major national test development projects on behalf of clients such as STA, Ofqual and DfE. We also develop digital test products trusted by thousands of schools and our robust and innovative research, assessment, and other services are widely known and used to support positive change across education systems.
As a psychometrics expert at NFER you’ll work closely with assessment researcher and use your statistical and psychometrics background to lead technical components, supporting the team to make informed decisions on a variety of UK and international products, services, research & development work.
Depending on your how much experience you have within UK education assessment you could join us as a Senior Research Manager or a Research Director. And as an integral part of the psychometrics and statistics team we'll provide you with plenty of development opportunities and support to promote innovation and new approaches to psychometric analyses to further NFER’s understanding of psychometrics and outcome measurement.
REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree level or higher in applied statistics, Education Measurement, Psychometrics, Psychological Measurement, quantitative psychology, or related field with an emphasis on quantitative analysis or psychometrics.
- Ability to apply psychometric techniques including classical test theory, item response theory, test equating, and linking.
- Advanced understanding of issues relating to measurement and test development, such as validity and reliability.
- Strong skills with statistical software such as R, flexMIRT, STATA, SPSS and MPlus or other IRT packages.
- Experience in assessment/test development for an educational or psychological test publishing company or as researcher.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to converse with a variety of audiences.
- Experience in project delivery and producing high-quality outputs to deadlines.
You may have held other similar positions such as Statistician, Assessment Researcher, Test Development Researcher, Educational Measurement Researcher, Assessment Advisor, Assessment Development Officer, Research and Data Analyst.
