We are looking for a Facilities Assistant to support with a range of support activities that will enable the effective operation and presentation of NFER offices, facilities and services. You’ll join the team who look after our 5 acres of land which includes modern offices, usually home to 220 staff, as well as our country manor house dating from 1887, car park and gardens. The facilities team ensures NFER offers a great working environment that all our employees can thrive in.
Joining the Facilities Team, you’ll have plenty of variety in your work; from preparing meeting rooms and conference facilities to portering and stocking vending machines. You’ll provide relief support to reception and be part of the team that carry out planned preventative maintenance checks and inspection of facilities and equipment, reporting faults and keeping records.
This is an active role and there will be some manual handling of heavy items.
You don't need any experience as long as you don't mind getting your hands dirty and enjoy work with lots of variety;
The role would suit someone who:
- is a logical thinker able to figure out how stuff works
- is good with their hands and comfortable using a variety of tools
- has a health and safety mind set
- is a good communicator, both verbal and written, and able to follow instructions and procedures
- is able to work on their own initiative as well as part of a small team
- has general office based IT skills including MS Word, Outlook and Excel
- is organised and can prioritise their daily and weekly tasks.
Whilst most of our staff are working from home due to COVID-19, our offices remain open and our business is strong. Your working hours will be 35 hours per week, typically 7 hrs between 0700 and 1730, Monday – Friday. There will be a requirement to work outside of these hours from time to time, including evening security cover and occasional weekend working but this is few and far between.
