You'll be joining a team of Statisticians/Psychometricians who work with a variety of different research teams across NFER. You'll be involved in a number of psychometric/statistical and strategic areas covering many new and exciting areas of work; from RCT and QED methodologies, to value for money analysis as well as getting involved in a variety of evaluation work along with an exciting portfolio of test development to name but a few. This diverse portfolio of work means you'll get the chance to apply your expertise to a variety of projects using creativity and innovative thinking to decide the right approach.
We are looking for a Psychometrician or a Statistician keen to grow their knowledge as we believe in investing in you keeps NFER as a leading statistical organisation.
Technical responsibilities
- contribute to a number of different research or development projects, working independently to meet deadlines;
- take responsibility for specific aspects of project work, as agreed with the project director or project leader, including writing project materials and the design of research/assessment instruments;
- assist in conducting quantitative research;
- conduct psychometric and statistical analysis of research and assessment data;
- contribute to writing project reports and other research outcomes;
- contribute to the development of proposals;

Requirements:
- Qualified in psychometrics, statistics or a highly numerate subject; preferably with a higher degree in a relevant discipline
- Experience of drafting statistical/psychometric components of proposals and leading on income generation activities
- Experienced user of statistical software, ideally R and SPSS but including other statistical packages such as FlexMirt, MPlus or other IRT packages
