Educational Assessment Researcher

NFER is expanding its team and is looking for teachers, graduates, education or assessment professionals with interest in measurement and assessment. You might be looking to develop your education and assessment expertise or are already established and want to join a talented team. You will be working in a challenging, friendly and supportive environment.
In this role, you’ll be developing digital tests. NFER currently develops a successful range of assessment products, which enables primary schools to monitor progress and measure achievement.
You will work with assessment specialists to develop high-quality reading e-assessments for primary-aged pupils. You will conduct basic statistical analysis, quantitative/qualitative research as well as contribute to research outcomes and reports. This role is being offered initially on a fixed-term contract for 12 months.
You’ll have some or all of the following qualities/background:
- An undergrad and/or a postgrad degree in a related area, such as in English, a STEM subject, psychology, education or equivalent experience
- Knowledge and understanding of assessment and the curriculum of English/literacy for 7-11-year-olds
- Experience of working in an educational, assessment or EdTech environment
- Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines
- Excellent knowledge of the MS Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint and the ability to understand, learn and utilise technology easily
- A genuine interest in helping to improve outcomes for children and young people
The salary range is £28,000 - £35,000, depending on skills and experience.

You’ll be linked to our Slough or York office with minimal requirement for office-based days to enable you to work as effectively as you can be it in the office, at home or a mix of the two.

These roles are initially a 1 year FTC, however, as NFER continues to grow there will be opportunities for permanency at the end of the project.
