NFER are recruiting markers to mark the NRT in Mathematics, English reading and English writing. These tests were introduced by Ofqual to provide evidence on changes in performance amongst GCSE year students.
Marker applicant essential requirements:
• All applicants should have experience in both teaching and marking GCSE papers
• All markers must attend a training day. This event will take place remotely, i.e. from home, on Saturday 12 March 2022.
Following the training day, markers will carry out the marking at home using NFER’s online marking system. Markers will undertake an initial standardisation exercise and will be allocated live marking following satisfactory completion. Markers will be supported by a supervisory marker and their marking monitored for quality throughout the marking period.
The marking period is from Sunday 13 March until 27 March 2022. Markers must commit to being available for the whole of the marking period and expect to work around 2-3 hours per day.
Payment for attending the marking training will be £150 for the day.

Disclosure and Barring Service
As part of NFER’s pre-employment checks you will be required to undergo a criminal records check (unspent convictions only) and to provide a satisfactory basic Disclosure and Barring Service (“DBS”) certificate before you commence work with the Foundation.
All new applicants and those who did not mark the NRT in 2020 or in 2021 will be required to provide proof of valid basic DBS certification, should their application be successful. Those with valid DBS certification, will need to provide a copy of the original documentation to NFER, who will then arrange a video conference to validate it. Applicants who do not have valid DBS certification, will be provided with a link to the application and guided through the process. As part of this process, copies of the original documentation and a video conference will be required by the NFER to confirm identity.
Right to Work
All new applicants and those who did not mark the NRT in 2020 or in 2021 will be required to provide proof of right to work in the UK, should their application be successful. NFER will require a copy of a valid passport. If a valid passport is not available, NFER can advise on alternative acceptable documentation. In either case, NFER will arrange a video conference to validate any documentation.

All the information you provide will be held securely by NFER whether the information is in electronic or physical format. We do not collect more information than is necessary to fulfil our stated purposes and we will not retain it for longer than is necessary.
