Want to use your economic and quantitative analysis skills to answer the important education questions? If so, join NFER as an Economist and make a positive, lasting impact in a leading independent charity with a worldwide reputation.
At NFER, our mission is to improve outcomes for future generations everywhere and to support positive change across education systems worldwide. We have a strong track record in education research, a growing international reputation, and world-leading expertise in the role of assessment in driving improvement. We believe in the transformative impact that evidence-based insights can have in supporting improvements in education systems, informing policymakers and other key decision makers, and strengthening practice in the classroom.
As an Economist you’ll use your analytical expertise on education issues across NFER’s UK and international portfolios, delivering projects that apply an understanding of market failure, cost-effectiveness analysis, behavioural science, incentives, and quantitative modelling to pressing policy and practice questions.
Working alongside other economists, researchers and education professionals you’ll develop insightful research on issues such as the role of the education system in facilitating movement into employment, social mobility and equity and inclusion in low- and middle-income countries.
Requirements
• Degree or higher degree in economics or in another subject which covers applied quantitative research methods, including statistical analysis, regression modelling and/or impact evaluation methods
• Experience in and knowledge of research and the use of quantitative methods
• Experienced user of statistical software, for example STATA, SPSS, R, MPlus and MLWin
• An effective communicator, both verbally and written, ideally with experience of contributing to the drafting of research reports or other such documents
Applications from economists with a background in international development and experience of education in low- and middle-income countries are especially welcome.
