Are you an Agile Technical Delivery Manager with experience within a technology software development team delivering technology projects, who understands the issues, processes, approaches an agile tech team will be using? NFER is a leading educational research charity and as part of a Transformation Programme, we are enhancing our e-assessment capability to enable us to increase our impact on education systems around the world, helping to improve outcomes for children and young people.

In this role you will be joining the ENOT programme made up of Developers, Testers, Product Managers and Assessment experts all committed to furthering the technical innovation of our products, transforming NFERs approach to assessment, increasing our capability to support governments and schools globally to better understand, and respond to, children’s learning needs.
This is a leadership role responsible for the delivery of the technology workstream for a large, multi-disciplinary Programme creating digital educational products. Through the use of agile processes, you will increase team efficiency, predictability, capacity, and implement changes to ensure quality and timeliness.
To be successful as our Agile Technical Delivery Manager you will likely have the following skills and experience:
- Significant experience as a Delivery Manager / Agile PM / hands-on Scrum Master in a software development team
- Hands on experience of software development processes and approaches
- Experience of managing software developments using continuous integration/continuous delivery pipelines
- Practical experience of different architectural approaches used in software development
- Excellent working knowledge of Scrum and Agile techniques and artefacts (such as definition of done, user stories, automated testing, backlog refinement)
- Experience of team leadership and working within a wider team, ideally in a matrixed organisation
- Exemplifies and promotes Agile values and principles
- Adept at velocity calculation, retrospectives, and other Scrum techniques
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams
- Ability to analyse and think quickly
- Outstanding organisational skills
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment
- Self-motivation and ability to stay focused
- Stays up to date with the latest industry trends and practices
- Experience of working with a combination of inhouse teams and external consultants or suppliers
