In this role you will working with Developers, Testers, Product Managers, Suppliers, Assessment experts and Technical Project Manager all committed to furthering the technical innovation of our products, transforming NFERs approach to assessment, increasing our capability to support governments and schools globally to better understand, and respond to, children’s learning needs.
Responsibilities
The Agile Technical Project Manager /Scrum Master is a hands on role, responsible for proactively managing the development sprints from planning to application development, testing, go live and review. You will facilitate all aspects of the agile project management including sprint planning sessions, backlog grooming sessions, daily scrums, sprint reviews and sprint retrospectives. You will be responsible for maintaining the Scrum team capacity plan, Scrum board, sprint backlog, velocity charts and burn down charts. Identifying and removing impediments to the success of the Sprint and Project. Moreover you will help uncover risks, identify mitigations and work with all members of the wider team to ensure we deliver quality, on time, on budget and in line with expectations across a range of stakeholders.
To be a successful you are likely to have the following skills and experience:
• Experience as an Agile Project Manager/ Scrum Master in software development teams
• Excellent knowledge of Scrum techniques and artefacts, as well as more traditional techniques such as Kanban and/or waterfall/gantt charts – using the right tools to ensure agile delivery while being able to manage dependencies, and bring predictability to timelines.
• Experience working with development teams to to estimate size, complexity and risk around stories/tasks
• Adept at velocity, retrospection, and capacity planning.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams
• Comprehensive understanding of how to operate and manage tools, such as: Jira/Confluence, but also prior knowledge of using Microsoft Project/Excel to help communicate progress and dependencies to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Knowledge and experience of TDD and BDD is desirable in order to constructively challenge user stories and story-pointing
• Previous experience with full lifecycle delivery with strong SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) practices and methodologies is desirable.
• Experience of managing cutover to live of digital/online applications/products, including ensuring that there are adequate provisions for support.
